So I signed up for a membership at a Gold's gym in Columbus towards where I live. I almost did not sign up for that particular gym because I was focused on signing up at a different gym closest to my house. Lo and behold, I got a postcard in the mail from the Gold's gym close to my house and decided to at least check it out. Well, it was meant to be because as I have been bragging about to everyone, it has a "cinema" room.
Since it is hard enough for me to stay more than an hour at the gym it so happens that they have one special room for those that want to work out while watching a latest release. Now a week into it, I have watched Inception, Gladiator and Jonah Hex so far. I know that not all of the movies will be the highlight of my "cinema" world but it is one step towards the motivation I need to get fit and if a blockbuster hit is what it takes then I am not going to complain.

The Super Bowl
The Super Bowl...it is a time to get together with family and friends. It is an event that most of us ladies would probably rather sit around and socialize while waiting for the commercials to come on between the plays not to mention the half time show. It is also a time to eat things that you normally do not which gives you a chance to justify why it is ok to eat the chips, wings or pizza sitting conveniently in front of you.
You see everyone else around you taking their bites enjoying the game without a second thought to what they are consuming. Meanwhile, you are sitting there wondering if you should even bother thinking about what you are eating.
The solution: do not put anything on your plate that is tempting and drink lots of water during the meal to feel more full so you do not snack and overeat.
I am not going to lie, I miss the nachos, the brownies and yummy french onion dip as much as Christina Aguilera missed singing the right words to our Star Spangled Banner at tonight's Super Bowl. However, in time, I know it will get that much easier to skip out on such guilty pleasures.

Chips & Soda
I passed the test...well sort of...I bought a bag of the very delicious BBQ Lays potato chips and Coca-Cola for game night last night and they went unopened. Tempted to open them and have "just one chip" and "just one sip" went through my mind, but then I realized that one chip and one sip would turn into eating half the bag and the 2 liter would easily turn into half full.
I decided against it. However, weeks ago I would have allowed the Frito-Lay people into my kitchen and part of my meal. It is not often that I eat potato chips but I would not have turned down the opportunity seeing that they were in my house and a part of a purchase I had made.
The soda is another problem all on its own. See you want to "eat your calories, not drink them". Well I for one like the sugar even if its worth 120 calories for a 12 oz because it simply tastes worth it. That taste however is deceiving giving you hopes that it is okay because it completed your meal instead of what it really did and give your liver and digestive system a swift kick in the rear. I have resorted to water which I for one rather feed the grass with but it has now become an advisable habit instead of consuming the soda. The results: feeling full sooner and I do not feel as bad after drinking it.
Nonetheless, every time I see a bag of chips or a can of coke, I will still have to use my will power to reason out why I can not make them apart of my meals but I know in the end my health will thank me for it.

Why Weight
This is my first blog and so far I have mentioned the word "weight" about 4 times before anyone reads this. Some people just know what they need to do. Others like me have to constantly think of it and say it so it reminds me that I need to shed the pounds and remind myself of weight and how it has affected me.
I am now participating in the Biggest Loser where I work so I decided, "why not write about it"? I know there are others out there that have been in my shoes or want to lose a few pounds.
Some say this is going to be therapeutic. I do think it is going to be a change of life in picking up my old jeans and get out of my current pair of pants I swore I would never fit into because I have been in denial. So I here I go.....
